One daughter asks and then stops, the other asks until she gets her daddy's "best yes". Scene: A dad is reading his paper as his daughter comes in... Daughter #1: Hi, Daddy! Whatcha doing? Daddy: Hi, Baby! Reading my paper. What are you doing? D #1: Oh, not much. Daddy, have I told you lately how much I love you? Dad: (puts paper down, knowing something's up) Yes....and I love you, too. Is there something I can do for you? D#1: Well....I was wondering if I could have a dollar. Dad: What for? D #1: I wanted it to help me buy a present for Mommy. Dad: Sure. I love giving good gifts to you, especially when you want to use it give to others. (gives her a dollar) D #1: Thanks, Daddy! (she heads out, Dad continues to read the paper) D #2: (coming in) Hi, Daddy! Whatcha doing? Dad: Hi, Babyface. What are you doing? D #2: Oh, not much. Daddy, have I told you lately how much I love you? Dad: (puts paper down, realizing he's about to be had again) Yes...and I love you, too. Is there something I can do for you? D #2: Well, I was wondering if I could have a dollar. Dad: Oh really. What for? D #2: I wanted it to help me buy a present for Mommy. Dad: Boy, Mommy is going to have it pretty good. Sure, I'd be happy to give you a dollar. (starts to reach for wallet) D #2: Um, Daddy, could I have 2 dollars? Dad: Two?! OK. D #2: Five? Dad: Its for Mommy, right? (she nods) Yes. D #2: Daddy, don't get mad a me, but could I have $10? Dad: I'm not mad at you for asking, baby. I love giving good gifts to you, especially when you want to share them with others. Yes, you can have 10. D #2: Daddy...how about $20? I'll even let you help me pick out the present. Daddy: Well, such a deal! Yes, you may have $20, and I'll be glad to help you pick out Mommy's present. But that's my "best yes", OK? D #2: OK. Thanks, Daddy! I love you! (she hugs him and leaves as D#1 is coming back in) Hey, guess what! Daddy gave me $20 to help with Mommy's present! D#1: Dad! You gave her $20?! You only gave me one! Dad: How much did you ask for? D #1: Well...one. Dad: And that's what I gave you. If you'd have just asked, I'd have given you more. Don't be afraid to ask, OK? I'm not made of money, but I'll always do my best for you, cause I'm your Daddy. Don't be afraid to ask your Heavenly Daddy for things either. He loves you even more than I do. D #1: Well, if that's the case, then can I have $50, Daddy? Dad: That's something you better talk to your Heavenly Daddy about, because this Daddy's fresh out of cash. -end- 2 2
